I made it: Pillowcase Dress

by inspiredrd on March 2, 2010

I follow way too many craft blogs, but they provide great inspiration for me. I find tons of projects that I just can’t wait to try, and I love all of the fun tutorials that crafty bloggers put together. The other day, I came across a tutorial for a pillowcase dress from the Prudent Baby blog. I thought it would be the perfect thing to make for my daughter Leila’s first birthday party. Because I am usually sewing straight lines on everything other than clothes, I was a little nervous, but the tutorial was very helpful.

I think the dress turned out great! I used Sandi Henderson’s Ginger Blossom Lime Vintage Dots cotton fabric from Chirpy Designs on Etsy.

I added a little brown floral trim around the bottom of the dress and used brown ribbon for the ties. It’s a little big, but she will be able to wear it for a long time. I plan to make a matching tie applique t-shirt for Joe for the big day since they are celebrating their April birthdays together.
