Volunteering at the Co-op

I love picking up my Bountiful Basket each week.  You never know what will be waiting for you, so it is always a fun surprise.  Because the program is a co-op and entirely run by volunteers, they encourage everyone to volunteer as they are able.  This past Saturday, I was able to arrive at my pick-up site one hour early to help out.  I wasn’t sure what to expect when…

Onion Goggles = No More Tears

I have a love/hate relationship with onions.  They taste great grilled, roasted, thrown into soups, raw on a hamburger, even microwaved.  Onions are a good source of vitamin C and fiber.  The problem?  They make me cry.  Not just watery eyes and a few tears but so badly that many times I have to run out of the room while in the middle of slicing and dicing.  I’ve tried all of…
