This Week’s Bounty

by inspiredrd on August 2, 2010

As I pulled up to the Bountiful Baskets pick-up site on Saturday, I could tell that something was amiss.  What was it?  Oh yeah, the baskets were EMPTY and there was no delivery truck in sight!  It turns out that the normal driver was on vacation, and the substitute driver didn’t know the correct route.  I was in a time crunch, so my friend Gloria volunteered to bring my haul over when it arrived.  It turned out to be worth the wait (her wait-thank you Gloria!), because the haul was even bigger than last week!
-1 large head romaine lettuce
-4 tomatoes
-4 small yellow onions
-22 hatch green chiles
-3 heads broccoli
-6 ears corn
-3 seedless cucumbers
-6 bananas
-3 mangoes
-8 peaches
-9 pluots
-1 cantaloupe
-1 bag black grapes

What a great deal for $16.50!
We also ordered a 5-pack of 9 grain bread so that we would be sure not to run out like last month.
The challenge this week will be to eat all of this produce!  I can’t wait to start roasting those green chiles.
What are your plans for this week’s basket?

Our house still smells a little like roasted chilies! But they taste so good. I loved the basket, but we only got four bananas. :(

Hi Alysa, Wow what an inspiring blog. I saw you on MBC. I am trying so hard to lose some weight and have done some research on whole food eating. I like what I'm reading. :-) ~Kimberly
