This Week In Photos

Ok, it’s official.  I am saving up for a SLR camera.  Yes, a real camera.  I have absolutely no idea which one to buy though.  Canon or Nikon?  Does anyone want to chime in and tell me their opinion?  I would be so grateful for any insight you might have.

In the meantime, I am really enjoying taking Instagram photos.  Here are my favorites from this week.

    Oh girl, for all the nutritional advice you have given me, I am happy to finally return the favor… although I am a complete novice, I've done a ton of research and written many posts on photography over at my blog.

    In a nutshell, I just got a Canon Rebel EOS T2i {not the t1i}. I went with Canon because I am just a Canon girl. I went with the T2i because the ISO power is AMAZING vs. the t1i. The new t3i is not that much of an upgrade, and not worth the extra money, from what I hear.

    If your budget is over a thousand dollars, I would look into a full frame camera {like the Canon 5d} instead of a crop censor. I got my camera last month at Frys for $799 with a kit lens {although I wouldn't get that lens if I were to do it again.}

    Sorry this is so long…I could go on for days on this subject! You are going to love having a DSLR!

    I use the Canon EOS Rebel XS & love it. No complaints. I'm an amateur for sure & have so much to learn… so not sure my opinion's worth much. But my experience has been great with it.

    Ok, so I did some research on the Nikon side for another photographer friend. She was curious for a friend who was interested in an entry level DSLR (she new about cannon, but not nikon).

    I would recommend the D90 as an entry level. It is $629 for the body at BH Photo. Then get a 50mm lens for it. BUT BH also has a kit which includes an 18-105mm VR lens which is $1199.95.

    Another entry level is a D3000, the only HUGE difference I see is that the D90 shoots 12.3 mega pixels and the D3000 shoots 10.2 mega pixels. On the D90 the ISO is 100-3200, and the D3000 is only 200-1600. Both shoot RAW NEF files or JPEG. The only other difference I see is that the D90 is compatible with AF-S and AF lenses, the D3000 is ONLY compatible with AF-S lenses. The D3000 with an 18-55mm VR zoom lens is only $469 though, so if your are NOT looking at making this a business maybe the D3000 would be ok?!

    If you need help with all those specs message me and I'll help explain them a bit more. If you are just using it as a point and shoot I'd definitely go with the D3000. If you want to do anything manual I may lean more toward the D90…

    Hope this helps! Sorry it is so long too šŸ™‚

    I also use a canon..same one Regan mentioned above. It's a great starter camera. I've heard great things about nikon as well. It's so much fun!!!

    I have a Canon, but you really just need to hold them and see which on feels better in your hand because as far as amateur photography goes, there isn't much difference in terms of the camera, itself.

    I'm about to send you a nutrition email!

    I researched a bit before I bought mine last year. Between Canon and Nikon, I think it's a personal preference. I liked what Canon had to offer in my price range better.

    I didn't want to spend a lot, but I didn't want to skimp on a camera. I ended up with a Canon Rebel XSI. I bought it from Amazin and paid about $550 last year. I love it, and don't regret my purchase!!

    Good luck šŸ™‚

    Love the photos, I think Chobani needs to see that chobani face! I have a great camera but feel like an idiot I don't know how to do everything with it (or anything). I am putting it on my summer list to learn.
