The Kids Cook Monday – Summertime

Cooking With Kids July 11, 2011
We haven’t been spending as much time in the kitchen lately, mostly because we have been spending so much time at the baseball field.  The kids and I usually eat a small dinner then take snacks to the game.  The Arizona League games are played mostly on back fields with no music or snack bars, although we did get to watch a game in the Tempe Diablo Stadium last week.  The snack bars were not open, so we didn’t order and french fires (see the misspelling?), but they did play music which was fun for the kids.

After a late night, we usually have a late morning including snuggles with Daddy.
Joe and Jeff cooked up an oatmeal pancake breakfast one morning last week.

Oatmeal pancakes are our favorite because they cook up so quickly and keep us full until lunch.

Here’s mine before I topped it with peanut butter and syrup.

Did I mention that we have been into baseball lately?

I also got the kids into the kitchen last week to help out with some pizza making.  Unfortunately, I wacked Joe in the face with the cutting board as he was preparing to put his pizza together.  I don’t have any photos to show you because I was busy scrambling for ice and a towel to stop the bleeding.  Oops.

The butternut squash pizza turned out perfectly though, and I was able to get some improved photos with my new camera.  After we ate our pizza it was off to the baseball field again.
Have you been cooking much lately?  Have you been getting your kids involved?  Or are you too busy with summer activities?

Your butternut squash pizza recipe looks delicious! For a quick and easy gluten-free crust I like Udi's frozen pizza crusts. My daughter and I will be tackling homemade gluten-free ravioli later this week, to use in a ravioli lasagna recipe form the Meal Makeover Moms. We still need to get to a baseball game this summer :-)
