The Kids Cook Monday – First Day of School

by inspiredrd on August 15, 2011

This morning was a special one.  Joe’s first day of preschool.  He woke up early and helped me make some pancakes.  We used the Bob’s Red Mill Gluten-Free Pancake Mix, and added some cinnamon and a splash of vanilla.

Joe cracked the eggs and gave everything a good stir with the whisk.

Leila helped me pour in the milk, and then supervised the pouring of the pancake batter.

Our gluten-free pancakes were delicious!  Light and fluffy, a perfect way to start a special morning.

When did he become such a little man?

The first day of school was a success.  Joe had a tummy full of pancakes, and a smile on his face.

He can’t wait to go again tomorrow.

Your kids are adorable! It's also good you're encouraging them to cook. I find it really enjoyable to have kids around the kitchen. They're such eager little helpers and I noticed they eat heartily too when they've helped cook it.

Thank you! They are always pulling up a chair to help out. I love it (except when I’m in a big hurry!)

YUM. What do you put on your pancakes? I use peanut butter (Kirkland organic) and bananas, and the boys love peanut butter and maple syrup :)

Becca, sometimes we put peanut butter and banana on top, sometimes we eat them plain. Just depends on the day!

Alyssa, can you tell me how long and at what temp you cook your pancakes? Mine (g free) always seem to turn out so thick and dense that I don't care to make them. Thanks!

Jaimie, I cooked them on a medium heat griddle for a few minutes on the first side and one minute on the second side!
