So what’s the deal with Mamavation?

YoMamavationu may have heard me mention Mamavation a time or two and wondered what it was.  For those of  you who don’t know, Mamavation is a weight loss support group that seeks to change families one mom at a time.  Every few months, two moms are chosen to go through a 7-week campaign where they receive free nutritional, fitness, and lifestyle support (see the entire coaching team here).  During this time, the moms share their entire experience through social media.

I had heard of Mamavation through the founder Leah Segedie and was actually a contributor for her other site bookieboo.com last year when I received a phone call.  Leah was in need of a nutrition professional to take over the end of campaign 6.  I told her that I would love to help.  Everything went so well that she invited me to stick around for campaign 7.  Now here we are, almost a year later, and it’s time to vote for the finalists of campaign 10.

I have enjoyed working with the Mamavation Moms so much this past year.  Not only the moms who have gone through the campaigns, but all of the moms that I talk to on a regular basis through Twitter, email and Facebook.  These women are changing their lives one day at a time and inspiring others to do the same.  I am constantly amazed at their drive, determination and spirit.  I am also blown away by the community that they have built.  No wonder so many of them are reaching their goals!  When one mom is down, there are thousands of moms there to pick her up.  When one mom runs her first 5K, she has a cheering section that stretches across the country.

I am proud to be the dietitian of Mamavation, and thankful to be involved in such an inspiring community.

Campaign 10 is the first time we have ever had husband & wife teams.  If you have a few minutes, I would invite you to go to Mamavation.com and vote for your favorite couple.  Voting ends October 10th.

This is going to be fun!

I never expected to be a finalist. Now that I am, I’m excited and nervous all at once. I have to say that you are such an amazing part of Mamavation. You’re not just there for the moms. You’ve been there for all of us when we’ve had questions. Thank you.
