Time for another leap

Food for the Hungry July 31, 2012

I got a call while picking Joe up from school today that Fox News in Phoenix wanted me to come to the studio to do an interview about the FH Bloggers trip to Ethiopia.

The interview is tomorrow morning at 9:40.

Double gulp.

To some of you, this might not be a big deal.  Especially you rock star bloggers (you know who you are).  But to me, it’s another big leap of faith that I’m praying goes well.  I don’t know why it makes me so nervous to be on camera, but it does.  Especially a live interview.

Back in my Baby Boot Camp days, I did a few taped interviews.  Those weren’t so bad because I knew they would cut out anything that I messed up on.

I’m getting some thoughts together on paper tonight so that I have a better chance of not bumbling through my words when the reporter (anchor?) asks me a question.  I had a wonderful conversation with local media coach Jodie Heisner today who was sweet enough to call and talk me through a few pointers.  My clothes are ironed and laid out.  Everything is ready.

I’m ready to leap.

My biggest hope is that I will relax into the interview tomorrow and do a good job of being myself.  If I can do that, maybe a few more kids will be sponsored.

And that would be pretty cool.

So pray for peace, cross your fingers, send good thoughts…I’ll take it all.
