Since coming home from Colorado on Tuesday afternoon, I have been hard at work to finish up the last of this year’s projects. I worked my buns off yesterday to get it all done so I could spend today in the kitchen with Joe and Leila baking up gluten-free versions of our favorite Christmas treats.
When I was finally finished yesterday, I kind of sat there for a few minutes thinking about how amazing it is that I get to do what I do for a living.
I get to be a stay-at-home mom.
I get to be a work-at-home mom.
I get to choose when I work and when I play.
I get to cook and write and take pictures.
I get paid by incredible companies to promote food I have already loved for years.
I get to develop recipes and promote local food by working with my local organic farm.
I get to work with women from all over the country to help them lose weight, get healthy, and transform their families.
I get to work closely with Food for the Hungry, and I’m still in shock that they took me to Ethiopia. You know how they say you can’t help but fall in love with Africa once you’ve been there? It’s true.
I get to serve and lead at church. A church that is full of people who do more than talk about Jesus. They actually put feet to their faith and make a difference in this world.
I get to be a baseball wife. I love baseball…and the offseason it brings.
I get to have a husband who cheers me on in everything I do.
At the end of the day, I sit back and smile. I am so very thankful.
What are you thankful for today?
PS – For those who were asking, Joe and Leila’s last coffee stand of the year will be tomorrow morning in Gilbert. Let me know if you need the address or if you would like to donate via PayPal. They are raising money for Advent Conspiracy to provide food and clean water for families in Malawi, Africa. Thank you for your support!
