My Diastasis Recti Journey

I started researching diastasis recti when my kids were little and my core was incredibly weak. At the time I just wanted to heal so I could get back to what I loved, teaching fitness classes and generally doing whatever kind of workout I wanted to.

This was back in 2012, and diastasis recti wasn’t on center stage like it is today. I had to do quite a bit of digging to find solid advice and ended up interviewing several experts.

I’m honestly glad I was able to do research back in those days because at this point, you can google ‘diastasis recti’ and any number of self-proclaimed experts pop up making it incredibly difficult to know who to trust.

After several phone interviews, I felt confident recommending Wendy Powell and her program the MuTu System for both my readers and my personal training clients. For the past 10 years, Wendy has generously contributed in-depth educational content to this blog and I have had the opportunity to meet and train with her in person.

As I grow older, what I’m learning is that not only is Mutu System the best thing for a new mom who is trying to strengthen her core after having babies, but it is a holistic program for anyone who struggles with the traditional approach to getting a “bikini body” or whatever the latest fitspiration is on social media.

I’m tired of fitness instructors promising me six-pack abs and the body I’ve always wanted. I’m ready to feel good about the body I have right now, acknowledging all the ways it has carried me through the years, birthing babies and fighting an autoimmune disease.

I’m happy for anyone who can do the kind of intense workouts I wish I could keep up with, but that simply isn’t part of my journey anymore. And I think I’m finally ready to admit it.

That’s why I’m grateful for what Wendy does at MuTu. Whether you’re young or old, a perky new mom or a woman with gray hairs poking out like wires on the top of her head (hello!), I can’t recommend this program enough. It is a holistic, strengthening, empowering experience that I keep coming back to again and again.

Because it’s about more than healing a diastasis, it’s about being strong and confident, comfortable in my own skin.

Maybe you feel this way too? Have you’ve started and stopped that crazy exercise program one too many times? Do you just want to feel good when you exercise, no guilt involved?

Wendy has graciously given me a 15% off code to share with you. Use “InspiredRD” at any time to get the discount.
