I have a love/hate relationship with onions. They taste great grilled, roasted, thrown into soups, raw on a hamburger, even microwaved. Onions are a good source of vitamin C and fiber. The problem? They make me cry. Not just watery eyes and a few tears but so badly that many times I have to run out of the room while in the middle of slicing and dicing. I’ve tried all of the “tricks” – cutting near an open flame, chilling the onion before chopping, running the onion under cold water. None of these ever stopped me from crying.
So for years I have either worn swimming goggles (a really great look) or made Jeff cut the onion for me to avoid the tears. Then I got a pair of onion goggles for my birthday. Let me tell you, they work. No more tears! And they are much
less embarrassing cuter than swimming goggles.
These are the ones that I have – red RSVP Pro Onion Goggles. And no, this is not a paid endorsement. I am just really excited that they work and a little disappointed that I didn’t invent them.
So if you are an onion wimp like me, get some goggles. Happy chopping!
