This Week’s Bounty

This week’s Bountiful Basket was awesome!  Because this week was a “Week B,” I arrived about fifteen minutes prior to pick-up time to get in line.  The line is extra long on “B” weeks because there are fewer locations hosting baskets.  From my spot in line, I was able to see what extras got into each basket so I chose one with extra grapes.  Score!  I was also excited to see two butternut squash and another bunch of white asparagus.  
Here is our haul for the week:
-8 bananas
-4 mangoes
-6 peaches
-8 plums
-5 limes
-1 pineapple
-2 boxes grapes (red,green,black mix)
-1 head cauliflower
-1 pint cherry tomatoes
-2 butternut squash
-1 head romaine lettuce
-1 bunch white asparagus
-5 lb. bag potatoes

On my way out of the pick-up site, I noticed a white truck with a bright pink sign advertising organic eggs.  I pulled the car around and asked how much the eggs cost.  They were only $3/dozen which was perfect because I had exactly three dollars in my purse.  
The woman said she lives nearby and sells most of her eggs to her neighbors but thought that she would see if any of the co-op members would be interested in buying some.  
The eggs were absolutely beautiful in different shades of white, brown and green.  
We scrambled some up on Sunday morning.  I have never had such light and fluffy eggs!  I hope she decides to come back next time!

    Looks like you got lots of "extras" not just the grapes…or else the baskets vary quite a bit location to location. I got 1 lime (not 5). I got 2 mangos (not 4). I got 6 bananas. The only "extra" I got was 2 pineapples- one of which was soooo green, I dont think it is going to ripen of be edible.
    Otherwise, I do agree it was a better week than last time for sure!

    $3 is a good price for organic eggs! I would definitely have picked up a dozen too. šŸ™‚

    I am not picking up at the same site this week, but my neighbor is going to grab me some eggs if that lady is back again. I love the colors! Thanks for the comments šŸ™‚
