So I’m kind of on a garbanzo bean kick right now. I add them to soups, sprinkle them on salads, wrap them up in flatbread, or roast them until crispy. Garbanzo beans or chickpeas (yes, they are one and the same) are an excellent source of fiber, protein and iron. In fact, one cup provides almost half of your daily fiber needs and 25% of your daily iron. No matter what you call them, they are a healthy addition to any meal. I searched the food blogosphere for some recipes to get you started:
Falafel Pita from Eating RD
Hummus Recipe and Moroccan Chickpea Barley Salad from Simply Recipes
So what do you call them? Garbanzos? Chickpeas? Chickbanzos? Leave your vote in the comment section!
Yum! I love garbanzo beans and just added them to a curry earlier this week! Thanks for sharing recipes, I will def be trying out the kale lentil soup, it sounds delish!
Chickpeas! But I love chickbanzos, that's very Hollywood, a la Brangelina, etc. š Great recipes & info, makes me feel good about the fact that I add them to everything as well!
Thanks for featuring one of my recipes!! Hope your weekend is good!
I love chickpeas! Hummus is a staple that is always in my fridge, and chickpeas are a super easy and cheap way to add protein in a hurry!
Thanks for the comments! I can't take credit for the "chickbanzos", that came from one of my Twitter pals. I do agree that it is very Hollywood though, too funny!
Thanks for the link! I looooove chickpeas (yep call them that). My friend named her dog Garbanzo, which I love, and they call him Gonzo š
Lovely collection! They're most definitely chickpeas over here in the UK.
I've been using chickpeas in stir-fries a lot recently, sometimes in place of the rice/noodles.
Thanks for the mention! I'm a huge fan of chickpeas or garbanzo beans, no matter what you call them!
