Before leaving Tucson, I made one last trip to my favorite thrift store to see if they had any fun vintage fabrics. I found a few including a kitchen window valence for 25 cents.
I liked the ruffles, lace and vintage pattern. It was the perfect length for a toddler skirt, and there was already a perfect spot to sew in some elastic.
I had forgotten about it until the other day when my friend Cassie inspired me to get creative with my hands. I pulled out the vintage valence and made a skirt for Leila in only 20 minutes.
She wore it all day, playing at the park and sitting in the dirt. The skirt held up well and was super cute!
At one point, Leila was ready to be DONE with the photo shoot. “Mommy, STOP!”
What do you do to satisfy a creative craving?
That skirt is SO adorable! I am not a seamstress by any means , but I remember some sewing that my mom taught me when I was a kid, and with a little review from her, MAYBE I could make something like it. :-). I do love fabrics, so re-decorating/re-arranging my house is one way I like ro get creative. That, and photography!
Absolutely adorable. I should get out my old valances and do the same!
