If you have been reading my blog for any time at all, you know I don’t do product reviews very often. I have to be head-over-heels about a product to devote an entire post to it. Well, this new gluten-free bread is very exciting for our family and I couldn’t wait to share it with you! Canyon Bakehouse sent me three of their products to try last week, a loaf of 7-grain bread, a loaf of cinnamon raisin bread, and a pack of hamburger buns. You have the chance to win the same pack, read on to find out how!
Since turning our kitchen into a gluten-free zone, we have been searching for a suitable sandwich bread. We had tried them all, or so I thought, and settled on buying the most tolerable one we could find. I didn’t mind giving up soft chewy bread so much, as I am not a huge sandwich person. I prefer snack plates for lunch anyways.
But Joe, my almost five-year-old can’t imagine eating anything other than a peanut butter and jelly sandwich for lunch. He is a pretty adventurous eater when it comes to breakfast and dinner, but as much as I’ve tried to get him to branch out at lunch, he just wants the darn PB&J. Joe was always a crust eater, but since going to gluten-free bread, he usually leaves the crust on his plate. After pulling the bread out of the freezer and toasting it up for his sandwich, the crust gets a little too hard for his liking. Imagine my surprise when I fixed him a sandwich on the Canyon Bakehouse bread and watched him eat the whole thing. “Mom! This tastes just like the bread we had in Tucson!”
What he meant was, this bread tastes just like the homemade 9-grain bread we had been ordering from our co-op before we went gluten-free.
What he was saying was that this tastes like normal bread.
That’s what is so exciting about finding this product. All of it tastes normal, like before. That was the goal when the owners of Canyon Bakehouse bread started their company. They wanted to make bread that the entire family could enjoy, not just that the gluten-free family members could tolerate.
One of the exciting things about their breads is that you can buy them fresh at the store, not frozen. Our loaves arrived fresh and chewy and lasted on the counter all week. I bought a few loaves of the 7-grain bread at Sprouts today and have them in the freezer, but when I am ready to use them they will be fine on the counter too.
We enjoyed the 7-grain bread for sandwiches, ate the cinnamon raisin in the morning as toast, and plan to try the hamburger buns out tonight with some pulled pork. Their other products include Mountain white bread, Colorado Caraway bread, Rosemary & Thyme focaccia, and Cranberry Crunch muffins. You can order all of the products online and find some of them in stores. I’m pretty sure I will ordering the caraway bread and focaccia soon. They sound incredible!

The cinnamon raisin bread looks SO GOOD! I’d love to try it.
I have been craving cinnamon raisin bread, and would love to try a gluten free version!
By the way, I love Joe’s comment about the bread in Tucson. I love that kid.
The 7 grain would be awesome 🙂
I miss buns the most. We’ve never tried any GF buns. That’s what I’d like to try.

Wow! The cinnamon raisin looks yummy.
I can’t decide which one to try first. I’ll say 7-grain for sandwiches and cinnamon raisin for breakfast. Thanks for the info!

The cinnamon raisin bread, I have a stuffed french toast recipe I have missed that it would be perfect for!
Love this bread – just found it a week ago. It is so much better than that frozen stuff 😉

The Rosemary & Thyme focaccia sounds absolutely wonderful!!
I’ve tried the 7 grain and cinnamon raisin….both are DELICIOUS! I’m going to try to find the hamburger buns locally but if not I’ll be ordering them.
Would love to try the seven grain sandwich bread…can’t eat the seeds on the HB buns due to diverticulitis. 🙁

we love Canyon, still trying to convince King Soopers to carry the Colorado Caraway.
I’d like to try the white bread. I am always on the quest for a white bread. thanks for the opportunity.

I would love to try the caraway bread. I miss rye bread so muck.
I love Canyon Bakehouse breads and buns. And they have the best prices too! I don’t even bother with the mixes anymore. I just buy what I need from them, & freeze what I’m not using. My favorite thing was to have honest to goodness Reuben sandwiches again using their Caraway Seed bread. Canyon Bakehouse is awesome!
I love Canyon Bakehouse! I can’t wait to try the Caraway bread – that one isn’t yet available in my area. Our favorite is the 7-grain – we love that it is delicious fresh, doesn’t require toasting to be edible, and doesn’t fall apart in a lunch box.

Have beena fan of there bread for a while. Want to try their caraway bread. Costs too much for shipping and stores do not carry it near me. 🙁
I have been enjoying Canyon Bakehouse bread for a number of months. It is the only bread I eat since discovering it. Sandwiches, toast, French toast, you name it and it’s great! Thanks for making my Celiac diagnosis easier to tolerate.
My son who is 15 has just been diagnosed. We have tried all different breads and he was VERY excited when he tried Canyon Bakehouse. He has only had the white so far so we are looking forward to trying the other breads you have!
Would love to try the cinnamon raisin!! Yum
I want to try the caraway bread! I’ve had the cinnamon raisin, the 7 grain and the cranberry muffins… spectacular! Unlike other GF breads, yours actually TOAST without burning all the edges!
I have really miss a substitute for the rye bread I ate before being diagnosed 20 years ago and am excited to try the new caraway bread. My favorite bread of at least several dozen that I have eaten over the years is the Canyon Bakehouse San Juan loaf.
