Today I’m hopping on a plane to Dallas to attend my first blogging conference. I’m excited to meet new friends, connect with people in real life, and catch up with my fellow California Raisins bloggers.
Can you tell which one is me?
I’ve been packing for a week now because every time I ask someone to tell me what exactly one wears to a blogging conference, they say “Just be comfortable”. Um, ok. That helps me not at all. My idea of comfortable is yoga pants and an old Sooners t-shirt.
So, I enlisted the help of two friends and a personal stylist. I raided my friend Lindsey’s closet, and sent pictures of me in all different outfit combinations to my friend Ashley. She would text me back with ideas like, “Try that outfit with sandals” or “Do you have any turquoise jewelry to go with that?”
Then my personal stylist, AKA Stitch Fix, arrived in the mail. Perfect timing! There were two tops that worked perfectly and made packing so much easier. (Ignore the less than spotless mirror and awkward face in the second photo.)
Have you signed up for Stitch Fix yet?
So with my packing finally finished, I set to work on cleaning up my blog. Apparently this is on the must do list before attending a blogging conference. You want to be sure that when the people you met at the conference visit your blog, it’s in the best shape possible.
I had been putting off updating my “About Me” page for oh, about two years because really, how do you write about yourself? I finally spiffed it up with a little lot of help from my new friend Abby who I can’t wait to meet in person this week. She also helped me organize and de-clutter my sidebar which had been driving me nuts for a while (and probably you too).
Now only one thing stands between me and Blissdom: Teaching high school athletes that “eating the rainbow” doesn’t involve Skittles.
Wish me luck.
Have a BLAST, Alysa! You look fantastic, and I know you’ll have a great time and come back even more “inspired.”
🙂
Thanks Krista, I’m having a MAJOR BREAKOUT so I’m a bit self conscious…hoping it gets better before tomorrow.
Oh, and I think you are the top center illustration – am I right?
Right!
I love your stitch fix! It’s seriously the first one that I’ve seen that is even close to what I would want to wear. What did you choose for the categories and price range?
Hmmm, I don’t remember the categories, but for price range I said “as low as possible” except for jeans. To be honest, these tops are more than I would normally spend on my own, but the quality is also much better than I would normally find, so I know they will last a long time.
So utterly bummed that so many are going to Blissdom and I am NOT!! It is so close to me and so many online friends will be there, but I will be in Houston…
You are fabulous by the way!! 🙂
Sad you won’t be there April!
Um, why didn’t you call me for fashion advice? 😉
Um, I love you? 🙂
That turquoise shirt is GORGEOUS on you. Super flattering.
Have a wonderful time at Blissdom!
Also – Nice job on your “About” page! You did a great job summarizing who you are and what topics you are most passionate about.
