Jeff and I have been through almost every level of baseball. To be sure, the glitz and glamour are sparkly at the top, but there are plenty of reasons to love where we are right now. Here are a few reasons we love rookie ball.
Lots of space to run and play.
Time on the field with our favorite coach.
Friends can come for free. (Heck, everyone can come for free.)
Getting to watch this guy do what he was made to do.
No pesky ushers to keep us from doing this.
Road trips are right down the road.
We may not have music, hot dogs, or the dizzy bat race, but what we have might be even better.
You won’t hear us complaining.
Do you have a minor league baseball team near you? Have you ever been to a game?
The only baseball games we go to are the San Jose Giants (AAA team) and we love them. They have a small town feel in the middle of a very large city (we’re actually larger than SF in both area and population). Very fun!
We have the Tennessee Smokies (not sure if they are A or AA but I think they are a Cubs farm team). I have been several times and am going to a game tomorrow night! Love going to games of all kinds (but I admit- my favorite are Atlanta Braves games LOL) 🙂
Awww, I have some great memories of that ballpark! When we were there it was AA.
Shout out to the Indianapolis Indians! It has the feel of a major league game but tickets are affordable and often free. Wish we went more often than we do! Love baseball…
Jeff played in that stadium many times, but I never made the trip. He always told me it was a fun place to play!
LOVE love LOVE ‘extreme’ minor league baseball – it’s a huge part of our life, with two Little League boys in our house, we have to work hard to get our fill of baseball, and the appeal of such good baseball on a free basis is huge! We go to our local college games in the early spring, and seek out short-season or single-A ball when we go on vacations. Richmond has the Flying Squirrels, a AA-affiliate of the SF Giants, and we usually can squeeze in a game or two at the Diamond each summer, with their family promotions. Baseball at these levels is even more fun to watch than major league ball, IMHO.
