I wanted to do a fancy post all about how to de-seed a pomegranate complete with photos and/or a video. But with all of our traveling, I haven’t had the chance. So I wanted to share this video I found on YouTube from foodblogga. She shows us how to de-seed a pomegranate while wearing her favorite white shirt. Now that’s impressive.
So now that you know how to handle a pomegranate like a pro, you can impress your holiday guests with all kinds of recipes, like my Maple Roasted Butternut Squash Medley or Bobby Flay’s Roasted Brussels Sprouts with Pomegranates and Vanilla-Pecan Butter from his “throwdown” with The Pioneer Woman. Or of course, you can always eat the seeds plain. My kids love eating them (with a bib of course).
Perfect timing on this post. I just bought two pomegranates today!
Oh good! Glad I could help 🙂
YEAH!! Thanks for this post! I have always wondered the best way to get the seeds out of those darn things. Very helpful.
Gina, I always made such a mess with pomegranates until I learned this. So much easier!
I love pomegranates! I can just eat the seeds plan, or they are also good in winter fruit salad.
My husband's four-year-old cousin taught me what to do with a pomegranate. Let's just say that my shirt and her mother's counter were both stained, and I only managed to get a spoonful of the little berries out. Maybe with this, I will have the nerve to try again!
Thanks for posting. We have a pomegranate tree (but a different variety) and never knew about this process. What is your favorite way to eat them or use them in a recipe?
I have a couple of recipes on here that use pomegranate seeds. I love sprinkling them on salads or in yogurt. Yum!
