Pursuing Justice (and a giveaway)

I don’t know about you, but when I see statistics like “27 million trapped in slavery” and “884 million without access to clean water”, I feel so overwhelmed that I just want to close my eyes, stick my fingers in my ears, and pretend like I never heard anything about it.  I can’t fix the world, so what’s the point? I walk around, living life by the golden rule, and…

Join the team – Blood:Water Mission

Chances are by now you’ve seen the epic video of Kid President challenging us to “Do something to make the world awesome.”  My favorite part (well, second favorite to “Not cool, Robert Frost!”) is when he says, “I’m on your team.  Be on my team.” A good teammate doesn’t come in and take over, right?  That kid gets kicked in the shins.  A good teammate doesn’t sit on the sideline…

Each customer got the carefully worded explanation from Joe, “We are raising money for kids in Malawi,…

I don’t know what to say about Friday.  I know I’m having trouble thinking of much else.  Looking into my kids’ eyes, seeing Joe’s kindergarten class in my mind, hearing giggles from the next room…it all hits so close to home.  I have no words.  Only sighs, groans, tears. If you’re struggling to find the right words, take heart in this: “If we don’t know how or what to pray,…

Go ahead, look back

Driving through the desert, the sun setting behind us, I couldn’t help but look back. Through my dirty window, on my iPhone, I captured this photo. I started thinking about all of the quotes I’ve seen lately about not looking back.  Twitter, Facebook and Pinterest seem to be circulating the same sayings, all about moving forward.  While I understand the sentiment and the importance of not dwelling on the past,…
