This week we had the most “ordinary” Bountiful Basket yet. There were no exotic fruits or weird vegetables, but we got a good mix of produce and we always love getting fresh berries. The good news is that our pick-up site was sold out this week. The co-op is growing!
Our basket for $16.50:
-1 head romaine lettuce
-8 tomatoes
-1 bunch celery
-7 green bell peppers
-3 heads broccoli
-1 bag carrots
-1 cantaloupe
-1 pint blueberries
-1 lb. strawberries
-7 pears
-8 bananas
-1 bag red grapes
We also ordered the Mexican add-on pack for $7.50. I am so glad I ordered early this week so that I was able to snag one before they sold out.
The Mexican pack comes in a bag like this.
It is fun to open, kind of like a spicy birthday present.
-6 limes
-10 tomatillos
-2 yellow onions
-1 bunch green onions
-1 bunch cilantro
-1 bulb garlic
-3 small grey squash
-8 jalapenos
-10 green chiles
This week, I plan to make and post a couple of recipes for you including Black Bean Sweet Potato Enchiladas and Roasted Tomatillo Guacamole. If you have any other good recipe suggestions with the above ingredients, leave me a comment!
John makes the best Tomatillo Sauce!. I think he just boils the tomatilloes and onions and then blends it with an immersion blender before adding cilantro and salt. So tasty! We had it on top of our Green Chili Pork Enchiladas last night.
