Happy Birthday Leila

Happy Birthday Leila!  Today you turn 3, and there are some things about you at this age that I never want to forget.

Your favorite color is pink.  When I asked you what you wanted for your birthday, you told me, “A pink hat, pink hair, and a pink nose.”  You talk about your pink friends and tell me about how you will go to pink soccer practice and someday to pink school.  I love seeing the world through your pink-colored glasses.

You prefer salty over sweet and could happily eat cheese all day.  While Joe is eating peanut butter sandwiches for lunch, you are grazing on vegetables, cheese and fruit.  If I put a bowl of cherry tomatoes on the table, you eat them all while telling me how much you love “potatoes”.

You give the best squeeze hugs in the world.  And almost as good as the squeeze hug is the way you say “squeeze hug”.

As much as you like pink and princesses, you are a tough girl.  Bumps and bruises don’t slow you down much unless it’s time for bed.  Then you try to milk them for all they are worth.

You give great compliments and are such an encourager.  You already have such a gift of lifting up those around you.

We love you Leila, and can’t wait to see what this year brings.
