Halloween memories on a string

For ten years now, my Halloween decor has looked like this.

These two guys, a potholder, and our bubbly witch light were the extent of my Halloween decor.

Last year I wanted to improve our Halloween situation, so I got fancy and made a fall wreath.  I also spray painted the letters B-O-O in a sparkly purple that doesn’t match anything in the house.

I added to the front door decor by using the rest of Bob’s guts (hay), a few pumpkins, and the sparkly letters.

Leila and I also planted some mums to brighten things up.

Inside, I gathered a few things together on the bookshelf.  You’ll see a mix of vintage, thrifted, Leila art, and unfinished stitching.

We only have one other area in our house to decorate, and I decided to keep it simple.

I filled a thrifted pitcher with stems from Michaels and placed it next to a cute little pumpkin (also from Michaels) and a brass apple bell (available in my etsy shop!).

Below the painting, I hung a long piece of jute string to display Halloween memories.

Most of the photos were snagged from Facebook, so I wasn’t able to print them out in a larger size.  This actually worked perfectly as the wallet size photos fit the space nicely.  I found the little clothespins and jute string at Hobby Lobby, then tacked it on the wall.  I love looking at the pictures of Joe and Leila in their costumes, and they think it’s great!

I’m sure my decorating skills pale in comparison to yours, but at least it’s an improvement.  Do you go all out for Halloween at your house?

It is absolutely adorable..all of it! I love the Halloween memories on a sting and I like the simplicity of the decorating. Less in more in most instances! My
‘decor’ right now is 3 mini white pumpkins and a clear glass of acorns that I have hand plucked from the ground! You home is charming…happy fall!

I like the idea of hanging costume photos from past years. Very creative. Very “pinnable.” 😉

    Thanks for sharing.
