It’s been 24 hours since I took all social media apps (except Instagram) off my phone. You know that urge to check your phone every few minutes? Turns out that goes away when there is nothing to check. So far, it feels really good.
And I know I said I would only be blogging once a week, but I had to tell you about a movie that is coming out today. Usually when I receive press invite to screen a movie I wouldn’t normally see, I say no thanks. But this time I said yes, mostly because my friend Toni is way into Marvel comics and I thought it would be fun to take her to see THOR: The Dark World.
I’m so clueless when it comes to Marvel movies that when Toni asked if I had seen the first Thor, I said “yes!” Only realizing later that no, The Avengers is not the same as Thor 1 (duh).
We walked in the theater and took a photo with a Thor look-a-like. Unfortunately the photo didn’t come out, so here’s a shot of us Thor-less.
Anyways, I was all set to hang out with Toni while she watched her movie, and guess what? I LOVED IT!
Seriously, this movie was great. Action-packed, of course, but also funny and romantic. Natalie Portman was fantastic, the supporting cast was hilarious, and I was happily entertained for 112 minutes.
Such a nice surprise for me, and Toni loved it too. Which means this movie is for everyone, right? Well, except for the super young kids we saw in the theater (this movie is rated PG-13 for sequences of intense sci-fi action and violence; some suggestive content).
Go see it this weekend, whether you are a Marvel fan or not. Just leave the kids at home.

The first Thor movie is fun too- definitely worth adding to your DVD queue.
I will have to do that!
I’m glad you liked it! I went last night and lots of laughs were had. Captain America is pretty good too!
I’ve never seen that one!
Good review! My friend Dan is a HUGE comic book guy (he has some worth more than my car when it was new) and so I’ve seen a lot of comic book movies because of him. I actually liked most of them so much that now when a sequel or a new one comes out, I can’t wait to go see it. Avengers was a great movie and I found out from him that there will be like 4 or 5 more released (with this Thor sequel being #1) before the Avengers sequel comes out, which made me sad, but happy at the same time! LOL
