Today we start a new Whole 30 challenge which requires lots of planning, grocery shopping, cooking, and organizing.
Oh, and we start homeschool too.
We are nothing short of overachievers around here. (Send help.)
I’ll be doing the modified low-FODMAP plan, and I guess that means Jeff will be too since I’m the one who does most of the cooking around here.
While I don’t know if the Whole 30 is for everyone, it’s a great way for us to get re-focused after a period of time when we haven’t been eating and feeling our best. One too many s’mores around the campfire (and about 50 too many late night post-game snacks).
Oh yeah, and homeschool. I feel about as organized as I’m going to get. I don’t have a Pinterest-worthy homeschool room, but I do have a few shelves and a kitchen table.
As an over-analyzer/worrier I tend to want everything set up perfectly before starting a new project. But I think this is one of those things that needs to get going before we get a feel for our best routine. I am certain there will be bumps along the way and flexibility will be key to not losing my mind entirely.
So say a prayer for us as we get this week started. Wish us luck. Send us your best vibes.
Here we go…

I have homeschooled my soon to be 13 year old since Kindergarten and now have a 2 1/2 year old. We did the whole 30 several years ago and it wasn’t TOO hard, but there’s a lot of planning involved AND getting kids to cooperate can be a challenge. Our 12 year old (then 9) always ate lots of veggies so it wasn’t too bad. I have thought about doing it again, since our eating habits leave little to be desired lately, but can’t image getting homeschool, maintaining the house, meal planning and prep AND managing to get crossfit in. I look forward to hearing about your journey and getting some helpful planning tips! 🙂
Have you heard of the Rice & Beans Challenge? It’s a challenge to eat more simply in order to understand how people around the world eat. And, its a way of supporting children in the Dominican Republic by donating the money saved on food costs to a child nutrition program. It’s been a fun challenge to do with kids so that they learn more about people around the world 🙂 The info is here: http://www.solidrockinternational.org/riceandbeans
Just thought you might appreciate it after I just read your post about the Whole 30 and homeschooling!
So awesome! My company’s no sugar bacon just got whole 30 approved. Been thinking about trying it. Good luck getting into the homeschool groove. Once you’re in I think you and the kids will love it!
Yes Whole 30 definitely takes some prep work! I think I’m going to try and do a modified version of it this week!
[…] are a few days into homeschooling and the Whole 30. At first I thought we were crazy to start both at once, but I am appreciating the extra energy […]
