I had laparoscopic surgery on Wednesday to remove my appendix (and a few other things of which I’m sure you don’t want all the details).
This was my before picture.
I’m not going to post an after picture because nobody wants to see that mess.
I’m not sure why, but I expected to breeze through surgery like it was a minor inconvenience. I thought for sure I would be up and around by Friday or Saturday at the latest.
In reality, recovering from surgery is hard work. And while lying around watching Netflix all week may sound like a vacation, it’s starting to drive me a little batty.
So here are three things that have made this past week a little better.
Fringe
I asked social media what show I should binge on during my down time, and Fringe won me over. This show is interesting enough for me to get past the gory parts (I close my eyes once or twice an episode). Plus, Walter is one of my favorite characters ever.
Art Nouveau coloring book
There is only so much TV you can watch before your mind starts to melt. A friend sent me this coloring book with a 50-pack of colored pencils and a sharpener the day before my surgery. It is the perfect thing to bring my stress levels down and give my brain a break.
Smith’s Rosebud Salve
The same friend also sent me this salve and my hands have never been softer. I have sandpaper hands in the winter, and one treatment of Smith’s Rosebud Salve has transformed them into baby soft skin.
So, what are you into lately?
Hope your recovery is quick!
Fair warning: Fringe starts well and ends terribly. The writers did a poor job of wrapping up the story.
Thanks for the salve recommendation. My hands are always dry in the winter!
Get well soon!
I’m into full episodes of hgtv’s Fixer Upper online. It’s a good thing I didn’t discover it earlier, because it’s a total distraction! We don’t have cable, but that would be the one channel I would watch if we did!
Thank you for the salve recommendation. I had never heard of it, but ordered it right away (gotta love Amazon Prime!) and the stuff is great!! Best wishes on your recovery.
