This week has been rough. My brain has been so cloudy that I’ve struggled to have coherent conversations and to be fully present as a parent, wife and friend. Having to work so hard at these things leaves me utterly exhausted. Emotionally and mentally drained. I’m driving back up to the Mayo Clinic this morning for the follow up with my GI doctor. Still searching for answers… I’ll keep you…
I’m looking forward to Celiac Awareness Month in May (my procrastinating heart can’t believe I’m planning ahead), and I would really like to share some of your stories. The gluten-free community has been HUGE for me (in fact, these guys above might be the only reason I didn’t completely lose it on Saturday), and I’m hoping to connect some of you who may feel alone in all of this craziness.…
Yesterday I found myself resting from accidental gluten exposure while wearing my celiac shirt and reading my continuing education book “Real Life with Celiac Disease”. Just thought it was funny. Happy Friday.
Two years ago my health was at it’s worst. One year ago I painfully walked a 5k for charity. Saturday I finally had my comeback race. The one I had been waiting for. And you know what? It felt good. I do remember however, picking up the phone in my loopy post-anesthesia haze and hearing my mom say, “Don’t post anything! Don’t tweet!” I’m thankful she had the presence of mind to do that because you…
Today I am going in for an endoscopy and colonoscopy. Life with celiac disease can be pretty glamorous, let me tell you. So because I know I will need something to lighten the mood later, I thought I would share a few videos that have been cracking me up lately (plus some old favorites). Because we could all use a good laugh every once in a while. Do you have…
These are the restaurants in Phoenix that I trust to do gluten-free food safely. Just in case you’re ever in the area and want to catch a bite with me or your closest celiac friend. With the exception of Jewel’s Bakery and Cafe, all of these restaurants have gluten in their kitchen. If you want gluten-free food, it is your responsibility to bring up your diet limitations with the server and/or…
