Whole 30 and Homeschool

Today we start a new Whole 30 challenge which requires lots of planning, grocery shopping, cooking, and organizing. Oh, and we start homeschool too. We are nothing short of overachievers around here. (Send help.) I’ll be doing the modified low-FODMAP plan, and I guess that means Jeff will be too since I’m the one who does most of the cooking around here. While I don’t know if the Whole 30…

Weekly Confessions: Short & Sweet Edition

I’m keeping my confessions short and sweet this week.  Here they are: – My kitchen floor is dirty.  And I’m not going to mop it. – My laundry is piled high.  And I’m not going to wash it. – My kids are quietly reading.  And I’m going to take a nap. Your turn, leave your short and sweet confessions below.  Give us a glimpse into your real life.  Because life…

My heart is in Oklahoma (and how you can help)

I remember that day in May of 1999 when the skies swirled green.  I had never seen a sky like that, even growing up in tornado alley.  It was the day of my Chemistry 2 final.  A class I was barely passing, and needed to scrape by to get into the nutrition program.  My future hinged on that test.  As I crammed in one last session with the tutor, sirens…

Project Simplify – Piles

It’s Project Simplify time again, and this week we’re tackling piles.  I’ve told you before I am a piler, not an organizer (much to my husband’s chagrin).  But lately it’s gotten really bad, and our office has been the “put it in there, close the door, look at it later” room.  I’m actually tackling the office next week for the final round of Project Simplify (Week 4 is for that…

Project Simplify – Drawers and Shelves

It’s week one of Project Simplify, and we’re focusing on drawers and shelves.  That means I am finally tackling my out-of-control nightstand.  Seriously, you might want to cover your eyes for this one.  It’s embarrassing. Here is the before and after shot. The bottom shelf might still look cluttered, but it’a actually an organized mess of memories, and I’m totally fine with that. At least now I can get to…

Where do you find good music?

I recently joined Spotify.  Not sure why it took me so long, but I’m loving it.  I like good music, but I never know where to find it.  Now I can follow my friends playlists (they have much better taste than me anyways) and add the songs that stick out to me to my “new faves” playlist.  Perfect! Here are a couple that I’ve added recently. Neither of them are…

40 Imperfectly Beautiful Days

The 40 Days Water Challenge is almost over.  I’ll just come right out and say I was less than perfect.  I slipped up a few times.  But, I was grateful to spend a few hours with the 40 Days bloggers at Blissdom where I learned that none of us were entirely perfect.  (Phew.)  And being perfect wasn’t the point anyways. As Rachel put it so well, “This whole 40 Days…
