This Week’s Bounty

A huge thank you to Victoria Dunham Bond from Tempe for this week’s Bountiful Basket photo and list.  My week flew by so quickly that I forgot to ask someone to take a photo for me.  Thankfully, she takes a photo and sends a list of her haul to her out-of-state friends every week so they can drool over what she gets.  So here is a list of this week’s…

This Week’s Bounty

This week’s Bountiful Basket included a few new items including okra and asian pears.  I love asian pears, they are crisp like an apple and sweet like a pear.  In fact, my mother-in-law has an asian pear tree in her backyard, so I am spoiled by these beauties in the fall.  Okra is kind of a tricky vegetable.  Of course it is tasty as a fried food, and I enjoy…

This Week’s Bounty

This week’s Bountiful Basket photos are courtesy of  Ashbstarr Photography.  If you don’t know Ashley yet, she is an amazing photographer with a natural talent.  She has captured some beautiful photos of our kids and most recently updated my professional photos.  If you live in the Tucson area (or are willing to fly her to your location), you really should schedule a session with her.  I promise you won’t be…

This Week’s Bounty

This week, I wasn’t able to get a Bountiful Basket because I had been traveling, so I asked my parents to take a picture of their bounty to share with you.   Their $16.50 basket included: 2 tomatoes 1 pack baby bella mushrooms 6 ears white corn 1 cabbage 3 huge butternut squash (1 was my dad’s extra for volunteering) 6 bananas 2 large plums 1 huge honeydew melon 6…

This Week’s Bounty

This week I was so excited to discover a new pick-up site for our Bountiful Basket that is less than a mile from our house.  How convenient!  The time (7:00am) is a tad early for my liking, but I really can’t complain.  Joe went with me and had a great time picking out the “perfect” basket.  We loaded our produce and our friend Ashley‘s produce into the laundry basket.  Boy…

The Great Chile Roast

Last week, Bountiful Baskets offered a 25-lb. bag of green chiles as a $12.00 add-on to our basket.  I knew I wanted some, but didn’t think I could handle all 25 pounds.  Thankfully, my parents ordered a bag for us to split.  Because there were so many chiles (and only 3 bad ones in the whole bag!), we decided to roast them on the grill (instead of under the broiler).…

This Week’s Bounty

This week we had the most “ordinary” Bountiful Basket yet.  There were no exotic fruits or weird vegetables, but we got a good mix of produce and we always love getting fresh berries.  The good news is that our pick-up site was sold out this week.  The co-op is growing!   Our basket for $16.50: -1 head romaine lettuce -8 tomatoes -1 bunch celery -7 green bell peppers -3 heads…
